Our first club run since All Ford Day 2003 started with an overcast day, wondering if the XB should be subjected to the weather, I checked the BOM weather site
( on the clubs webpage ) and it showed no rain in the area, so it was decided to hook the battery up, a
and get it moving.
Meeting at Albion Park with our other friends from the South Coast, the two Steve's and their better halfs!
and some new faces that we have not met before, the cars , an Orange XR8, Black GTP, White XA, a very mean, good looking left hand drive Red two-door 66 Fairlane 390GT, ( hope I got the Fairlane right!) and some others I missed seeing, due to chatting to the two Steve's.
After a while a line of unmistakeable shapes appeared in the distance, and it was time to move, a pleasant drive to Greenwall point Nowra was the destination.
Being in a convoy and the sounds of 351 V8's harmonising together is a sound best experienced, with lots of looks from passing cars makes this even more enjoyable.
Trying to stay within the limits, a few passed us, we arrived at Greenwall Point and parked the cars, unfortunately not all together, with a few hideous *oldens near our favourite brand.
The club raffle was drawn and won, after the "SMARTIES" were passed out to the ''lucky'' few who guessed the closest to our mystery destination
All the models looked fantastic together, the red 390 GT Fairlane fitted in well, I hope to see this classic with us again on many runs, well done on it's presentation.
"Paranoid" looked it's usual mean clean self, Sam, I bet you still owned it now!!
Rob's new toy was interesting, Charlie's XR was imaculate as ever, and Geoff's XT must have wondered why it was being driven so slow on the day......usually we only see the back of it......!!!
A good mix of GT's and a prime location made for a relaxing day, well organised by Geoff D , I must congratulate him on his efforts and the very good advise to return via Jambarroo road to miss the road-work traffic chaos through Kiama.
After owning my XBGT since new, and returning home with now 111,058 body miles on the clock, the car is still an Xcellent Beast to drive on the road, I can't imagine life without it, in the good company of many fine GT's brought out on the day.
